Pterodon Vietcong Editor v1.61DOWNLOAD FROM PTERODONDOWNLOAD FROM VIETCONGVETS |
This is the official *Pterodon Vietcong map editor, v1.61, available from the game developer's web site, which
redirects you to Auscong, where you will need to register to download the patch. As an alternative, you can download it from here. *The Pterodon website also provides other resources for the production of Vietcong multiplayer maps. |
Tutorials |
The main tutorial is in three parts, in Adobe Reader .PDF format. |
A.I. Scripting Guide |
This guide contains instructions for the scripting which controls aspects of the single~ and multiplayer missions. |
Example Scripts |
This includes the scripts which control A.I. behaviour, also the 'coop.c' script which is necessary for co-op missions. |
Character Creator (GUI) |
This graphical user interface auto-generates non-playable characters with the appearance and weapons that you select.
Install and run this in the appropriate Vietcong\Levels 'Scripts' folder
(e.g. Vietcong\Levels\HALONG\data\(TRX)HalongCoop\Scripts). *** Massive thanks to the author of this interface *** |
Special Effects Tips |
Developers' notes explaining how to use 'random interval' timing settings plus combined sound and visual effects to achieve enhanced battlefield ambience in user-created maps. Similar techniques were used during the creation of (TRX)TakeBack. |
Skin Tutorial |
The skin tutorial explains how to edit the in-game characters (see also "DDS Converter for Photoshop").
Please note the following extract taken from the guide: "If you have no 3DS Max: After ‘finalizing’ the map you have to submit the ‘Texture’-Folder to the clients, otherwise the players will only see white areas at the places where you have changed the skin. *(levels-->your project-->tex-->only the changed skins)" |
DDS Converter for Photoshop |
This will enable you to edit exported graphical features (e.g. character skins) - you can then re-import them into your game. Place this file "dds.8bi" in the Adobe Photoshop "~\Plugins\File Formats" folder - you will see other files with simlar names already there. |
Additional Editor Components |
These extras include a training level plus other components; ladders, sky, and water features.
